Week notes, week 1336
This week, I was at Container Days Hamburg! But rather that treat you all to a blow-by-blow account of it, similar to my Bridges 2026 recount, I thought it would be better for my blog journey in these busy times if I took inspiration from Joel and started writing week notes.
(For those keeping count, this is again a successfull sale by Joel. I expect my days without a Casio watch are numbered at this point. 😂)
The rationale for starting weeknotes is simple: year after year, the Autumn-September season is very busy for me, with lots of trips to events, vacations, and so on. A brief, timely, topicless format lets me keep blogging without fear of publishing incomplete articles. (And gives me reason to not skip weeks, which is good too!)
Finally, some of you might be wondering about the number "1336". It is the number of weeks I've been blessed with living on this earth so far. Just one off from that "leet" number which should make writing next week's notes so much the sweeter! 😁
Anyway, in the less meta sense of week notes, here are some cliff notes of the week starting on :
- I got to visit Hamburg, meet some friends around there, and get acquainted with a bunch of people at the Container days and AI Context conference there! (Including at least one Fedizen)
- Thankfully didn't get sick at the conference, for once, though I reneged on my decision to mask as there was literally not one masked individual at the event.
- Went to visit one talk of the AI portion of the conference smug (It was more about provisioning Kubernetes nodes than about AI, but, shhh 😂)
- Outside of work-related travels, work is going well! Lots of meetings, a few interviews in a bid to grow the team, and otherwise preparing the project for the long run. I do hope that once vacation season is over, we can start adding new features on top of all that recently implemented reliability and ease of development, tho!
- And outside of work... I got to be a cameraman on a movie! Granted, it's a home production, but still... gotta get those camera credits early on 😁
- Said movie is part of the homeschooling conference in Bulgaria, which is to take part next week. I get to prepare for a presentation on "jobs of the future", which... I still have no fully prepared slides for. ...So, it's a presentation of the future! 😂
Reading, games, and other media consumption
Not much time for those, but..
- The Teaser Period: Why the AI Boom Is Hitting a Reset Wall was a scary read. I did know there is a lot of bad debts around AI (since, from Austrian economics circles, I would expect any economic "boom" is malinvestment fueled by cheap credit), but I didn't expect AI debts were quite this bad. shiver
- BinaryEye has recently become my QR Code application of choice for Android.
- A brief "return to Luanti" experiment has recently concluded, with the result that I should still probably stay away from games. More context on that in an upcoming article! (Still, got a small bugfix and an optimization PR opened upstream, so, yay!)
- Joel Chrono has cool weeknotes on his blog.
